Thomas P. Ward

Thomas P. Ward, a son-in-law of A. Starke Taylor, III, our Chief Executive Officer, began working with Watson & Taylor Management, Inc. in March 2005 and is responsible for all aspects of the self-storage acquisition program, including deal sourcing, underwriting, negotiations, due diligence, financing, and closing. Mr. Ward has 20 years of experience within the real estate capital markets, consulting, accounting, auditing and tax areas.
Prior to joining our company, Mr. Ward was an independent consultant engaged primarily in the marketing, underwriting and/or due diligence of commercial mortgage loans and loan portfolios totaling in excess of $2.5 billion for clients, including Bank of America and Secured Capital Corporation. From 2002 to 2003 and from 1998 to 1999, he was a Senior Loan Officer and Underwriter for Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital. From 2000 to 2001, Mr. Ward was a Vice President of J.P. Morgan Mortgage Capital, responsible for the underwriting of U.S., Canadian and European commercial real estate loans. Prior to 1998, Mr. Ward held various managerial positions in the commercial real estate finance business, including three years with Ernst & Young’s Financial Advisory Services practice, with a focus on the restructuring/workout of in excess of $12 billion of commercial real estate.
Mr. Ward has a Masters in Business Administration (With Honors) from The University of Notre Dame and a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting, from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi). He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
