Donald Jones joined Watson & Taylor Management, Inc. in October 2005 as a financial analyst involved in enhancing the acquisition process, assisting in the takeover of newly acquired self storage facilities, and monitoring on-going location performance. Mr. Jones began his career with U-Haul, a leader in the “do it yourself” moving industry. Originally hired into management in 1993, Mr. Jones held a number of positions prior to become Marketing Company President for the U-Haul Co. of Fort Worth in December 1998. His position had full authority over a nine county region surrounding the Fort Worth area, with responsibilities including management of 17 U-Haul Company-owned stores and 107 U-Haul Dealerships; Mr. Jones oversaw the work of 100 direct and 200 indirect employees with a daily focus on operations, equipment distribution, budgets, human resources, marketing, and construction.
Prior to leaving U-Haul in December 2003, Mr. Jones operated a $24 million budget and managed in excess of 7,300 storage units, ranking him #16 & #2 in the nation, respectively, in a group of 114 Marketing Companies. Since departing U-Haul, Mr. Jones developed a consulting business dedicated to supporting independent storage operators. Within a two year period, Mr. Jones established and managed over 24 accounts with a total of six locations under full management. His services also included due diligence work, property assessments, software conversions, accounting enhancements, and employee training. Just prior to joining Watson & Taylor, Mr. Jones was instrumental in the sale of two self storage properties valued in excess of $6,300,000.
